Description
The lime kiln, constructed of coursed rubble stone, features a tall tapering stack that is now covered in dense vegetation. It is built against a steep bank, allowing for charging from the top and drawing from the bottom. The original draw arch is segmental and made of brick, with a brick surround at the back of the draw hole. In front of this, a later, higher draw arch has been added, which is integrated with a rubble stone retaining wall that spans the full width of the kiln. The later draw arch includes dressed stone voussoirs. In front of the draw arch, there is a 20th-century concrete platform with blockwork flanking walls and a loading bay.
