Description
Strand House is a three-storey, three-window Georgian building, likely dating from the 18th century. The front is roughcast with a first-floor cill band, topped by a slate roof and brick chimney stacks. The windows are sash windows with nine and twelve panes of glass, later fitted with architraves. A central arched entrance features an open pedimented doorcase, pilasters, panelled reveals, a six-panel door, and a five-pane fanlight.
The gable ends are of rubble construction, with dressed quoins and visible vertical joints along with evidence of blocked openings and narrower windows, reflecting the building's former use as a warehouse.
To the rear, a rubble-walled garden is accessed to the right through an arched opening with a keystone. Within the arch is an acutely pointed inner arch constructed with voussoirs, thought to be dated. A cast-iron water pump is located in the front garden.
Inside, original features remain including reeded architraves, cornices, and a contemporary staircase. The kitchen retains a full-height Georgian dresser which was designed for the house.
