Description

Y Plas is a house dating to circa 1832, built in a Regency Gothick style. It is two storeys high and constructed of rubble masonry, originally stuccoed. The roof has a hipped shape, with a valley to the rear, and wide plastered eaves. Rendered chimney stacks are set back on the ridges.

The front facade is symmetrical with three windows. The windows are pointed arched, with stone voussoirs, and contain Victorian six-pane horned sashes with vertical glazing bars; similarly glazed fanlights are above each window. The pointed arched doorway has stone voussoirs and a fanlight matching the windows, now with a modern part-glazed door.

On the west elevation, a single arched window to the first floor retains an original Y-traceried fanlight and a sash window matching the style of the rest of the building. Two similar windows are present on the ground floor to the left, and a window matching the front elevation to the right. A tall, pointed window is visible on the right hand return elevation, with a Y-traceried head above a two-light, eight-pane casement. A Y-traceried head frames the sixteen-pane cellar window below.

The rear elevation features a pointed arched central doorway with a recessed half-glazed door. An original sixteen-pane horned sash with a Y-traceried fanlight is found in the ground floor window to the left, set within a pointed head with stone voussoirs. Two similar windows are present on the first floor.

An L-shaped service wing adjoins the house to the north. This single-storey wing has a slate roof with a hipped angle and a large rubble end chimney stack. It has three-light casement windows with stone voussoirs.

Inside, a contemporary dogleg staircase is located off the central access passage, and the house has panelled doors.
