Description
The gatepiers and gates to the Rhosygilwen driveway were built in the early 19th century. They feature four rusticated piers made of Cilgerran stone, which have reeded angles, friezes, cornices, and pyramid caps. The double gates are adorned with spearhead finials, spearhead dog-bars, and wrought iron scrolled lower panels, although these panels are damaged. On either side of the main gates are smaller matching pedestrian gates. It is possible that the gates were added later, as the spearheads resemble those found on Ty-Rhos chapel, which is said to date from 1881. The piers are similar to those found at Cilgerran churchyard, which were constructed in 1833.
