Description
Romans Castle is a farmhouse featuring unpainted render and a close-eaved imitation-slate roof with small rendered end stacks. The building is two stories high and has a three-window range that includes 19th century or earlier 20-pane horned sash windows, with a central door located in an added gabled porch. The first-floor sashes are narrow, and there is a loft window in the right end wall.
To the left, there is a lower range that is painted and has a brick end stack. This section includes a wide central window, an inserted window to the right, and a lean-to on the left end. An outside stair on the rear wall leads to a loft door with a catslide roof, and there is a window in the center along with a door in an added gabled porch to the left. A 20th-century loft window is present on the first floor center.
The rear of the main house is painted and features a gabled two-story wing to the right, which has a rendered end stack, a boarded dairy window at ground level, and an inserted door on the right side wall with a window above it. The center rear of the house has a stair window and a blocked window above. To the left, there is a large lean-to with outside steps at the left end leading to a loft door.
The interior has not been inspected, but it is noted that the ground floor of the rear wing was used as a dairy.
