Description

This is a two-storey stable range at Holyland, built in the 1820s. It is constructed of rubble stone, originally rendered, with a hipped roof covered in imitation slates. The building has a broad three-bay central section and two-bay side wings. The central section is slightly projected and features a pedimental gable above a grey limestone string course. A circular recess is in the pediment, above three first-floor windows; the central window is blind, and the ground-floor centre window has a stone keystone bearing the date “?AA 1824,” which is higher than the doorhead of the doorway in the left bay. The right bay likely originally contained a similar doorway, but it has been replaced with a 20th-century garage opening. To the left, a wing features a broad, cambered-headed coach entry, a first-floor window to the left, and a much-altered first-floor opening to the right. The wing to the right has a blind first-floor window on the left, a window to the right, and two ground-floor windows. All openings have brick heads.
