Description
The lofted outbuilding at Hayston Hall is a two-storey structure built from roughcast and colourwashed rubble stone. It features a hipped slate close-eaved roof and has a red brick stack on the left end, with a rebuilt brick stack on the rear roof. The building has three bays and includes cambered headed openings with brick heads. On the upper floor, there are three 9-pane casements, while the ground floor has a larger window to the left and doors in the centre and to the right. The right end wall has a small window on the ground floor, and the rear includes loft windows in the centre and to the right, along with a ground floor pantry window to the left that has timber thin bars and a door in the centre, which is likely an insertion.
Inside, the layout has been altered for use as a cottage, featuring a dog-leg timber stair and a fireplace with an iron grate in the centre and left sections. The right side has a stone cross wall and is open to the roof, and it is said to have been a dairy at one time, although it was floored previously.
