Description

Cranford is a former rectory, likely dating to the 18th century, although it has been thoroughly remodelled in the 20th century. The south front is slate-hung, while the rest of the building has rendered walls and a slate roof. A large, roughcast ridge stack sits at the centre of the roof. The front is a three-window gable end, with a broad gable and a slight central projection. This projection features a tall, arched recess containing a 12-pane sash window on each floor. The outer bays to either side have smaller 12-pane sash windows on each floor. The windows retain stone sills. The sides of the building generally feature 20th-century windows, and an eastern gabled porch has been added. The rear elevation is rendered and has a four-window range of sash windows, with large 12-pane sashes to the two central bays. The ground floor room in the southeast corner has solid walls surrounding it, which may suggest an earlier core to the building.
