Description
Rest-Harrow is a house that was formerly a workingmen's club. It features painted stucco with bicolour brick and stone dressings, which have been painted over. The roof is slate and has a close eave. The building is two storeys high and consists of two sections forming a three-part composition, with Guild House on the left and Rest Harrow as the former centre and right sections.
The centre section slightly projects forward and has a 12-pane window above a large arched entry. The right section contains paired 8-pane sash windows above a broad cambered-arched tripartite sash window. The centre section is adorned with raised stone quoins, and all openings have similar rusticated jambs. The upper windows feature alternated brick and stone voussoirs above flat heads, while the ground floor has a similar arch and cambered head. The arch is flanked by tooled limestone plinths on each side, with a tooled impost band and a large flush keystone.
There is a red brick band beneath the eaves. The right section has a raised stone band between the floors, which displays the words "Workingmen's Club Rooms" in painted letters beneath the current paint. The large ground floor tripartite window consists of 4-12-4 panes and has tooled limestone blocks at the springing of the cambered arch, along with a large flush keystone and stone sills.
