Description

New England is an early to mid 19th century cottage with an unusual architectural design. It is constructed from colourwashed rubble stone and features a slate roof with stone end stacks, the southern stack being larger. The cottage is one storey and has a loft, with a double fronted appearance. Each side of the entrance, which has a 4-panel door, is flanked by a large 12-pane hornless sash window. Both the door and the sashes are set beneath blank stone arched heads. The northern end wall includes a small 12-pane sash window for the loft, also with a similar arch above it. The cottage has split slate sills and an outshut at the rear.
