Description
Pendre is a pair of estate cottages built around 1860 for Sir T. Lloyd of Bronwydd, Cardiganshire, who was the Lord Marcher of Cemaes. The cottages are constructed from coursed rubble stone and feature a slate roof with brick end stacks that have nogged brick caps. The front of the building is symmetrical, with each cottage having an inner door and an outer window on each floor. In the center, there is a brick-framed black lozenge recess. The doors are plank doors with narrow overlights, and the windows consist of a 12-pane sash below and a 9-pane sash above, which is still present on No 1, while No 2 has been replaced with 20th-century windows. The ground floor openings have painted brick heads, and the upper windows are supported by timber lintels. There is a lean-to at each end of the cottages, with a door on each; however, the lean-to on No 1 is blocked.
