Description
The wall of the walled garden located to the south of Cloister Hall is constructed from rubble stone. It partially incorporates the basement wall of Cloister Hall on its northern side and, to the left, the end wall of a 14th-century undercroft situated behind Cloister Hall. On the eastern side, which faces the footpath, there is a door at the right end. The southern side of the wall is embanked against the outer side, which faces the cathedral, and features a square-headed blocked opening at the western end. The western wall consists of a low section measuring 6 meters in length at the southwest corner, followed by a taller section that rises to 4 meters. This taller section likely represents the front wall of a square tower that was built over the undercroft, providing access from the raised garden of Cloister Hall. The wall then transitions to a lower section of over 2 meters at the northwest angle. On the northern side, the left end features a low segmental arch leading into the undercroft, continuing to the basement of Cloister Hall, which includes a door into a parallel undercroft.
