Description
Llanon Cottage is a 17th-century building constructed from whitewashed rubble stone, topped with a thatched roof that is now covered by corrugated tin sheeting. It features stone end stacks and is a single-storey structure with a window to the left and a central doorway. The front window on the left is a 12-pane casement, while the rear includes both 4-pane and 12-pane casements. The right end wall has a small loft window.
Inside, there is a ledged door leading to a central cobbled passage with wood paneling. On either side of the passage, there are three-panel doors leading to rooms, with a crogloft to the right. The kitchen on the left has a full-width beam that supports an internal wood and plaster chimney hood. The roof is a three-bay structure made from reused timbers and unsawn branches, supported by oak half crucks built into the walls. A continuous rope under-thatch serves as a base for the thatch, which is not visible beneath the corrugated tin roof. The central passage extends to a ladder leading to the crogloft and a ledged door that was once the front door. There is also a small later fireplace in the room to the right.
