Description
15 Queens Terrace is a uniform Victorian terrace consisting of four pairs of houses and one additional house. Built in the 19th century, it features three stories and a basement, with two-window fronts made of rubble and brick dressings, displaying some Gothic details that may have been influenced by J P Seddon. The terrace has slate roofs and stock brick chimney stacks, along with an overall moulded brick cornice and band course.
The attic dormer is present at No 5, while the other houses have skylights. The original horned sash windows have been retained. Each house includes a two-storey and basement bay that is advanced and splayed, featuring colonnettes and a blind Gothic traceried parapet and aprons. The third floor has alternating tripartite and twinned segmental headed windows, while the first floor features similar segmental headed windows above raised and paired porches, which have steep pitched fishscale slate roofs and Gothic timberwork, along with board and panelled reveals.
Half-glazed Gothic doors are retained at Nos 7 to 19, and there are quatrefoil traceried fanlights at Nos 5 to 19. All houses maintain iron railings at the front and leading up to the porches, with the railings continuing in front of No 21.
