Description
Norton Mill is an early to mid 19th century, two-storey mill house and mill that now functions as a single residence under one slate roof. The building features a basement storey at the rear that overlooks a stream. Its walls are made of rubble, with segmental rubble voussoirs and rendered stacks. The front has three windows arranged at various levels, which are paired casements with small-pane glazing. There are boarded loading doors at two levels in the centre, with the house door located up steps to the left. The rear wall of the mill is partly weatherboarded and includes modern timber windows and a lean-to slated extension. Notable features include the ironwork and timber brackets of the overshot waterwheel, which remain below the cistern and feed pipe from the elevated mill pool above. Additionally, drive machinery and querns are still present within the house.
