Former Cottage to rear of 7-9

This former cottage, located at the rear of 7-9, is a 2-storey building made of pale red brick with stock brick dressings and a blue brick plinth. It features a proprietary slate roof that is slightly lower than the Royal Head, with boarded and dentil eaves and a modern brick chimney stack. The building has mostly horned sash windows, with a tripartite window to the right of No 7 and modern windows at No 9; some windows have cambered voussoirs.

No 7 has a 2-window front that includes a Victorian shop front with a bracket cornice and implied grooved pilasters, a 2-light window, panelled reveals, and 4-panel doors for both the shop and the house. No 8 has a 4-panel door, while No 9 has a modern door; both are 1-window fronts.

The right end facing Chapel Street features an asymmetrical gable that steps back at the apex; the upper part is red brick, while the lower front half is rubble, indicating the presence of an earlier, narrower structure. The rear has a tall roof pitch with gabled cross ranges and some modernization. No 7 is slate hung and has a small pane sash window. In the yard behind, there is a tiny 2-storey, 1-window former weaver's cottage, made of red brick with small pane sash windows, which is the only one of its kind remaining in Llanidloes.
