Description
The Old Bank is a townhouse and former bank built from red brick in Flemish bond, featuring dentilled brick eaves and a slate roof with brick end stacks. The building stands three storeys high and has three bays, with gauged brick flat heads above the upper windows. The top floor has 6-pane windows, while the first floor has 12-pane windows. The ground floor is covered in late 19th-century stucco, which includes a deep fascia beneath the first-floor sill course and channelled walling below the ground floor window heads.
To the left of the doorway is a modern transomed window, and to the right is a wide modern 3-light transomed window. The original door is accessed by three steps, which have an iron rail supported by twisted uprights, with the lower two steps being semi-circular. The late Georgian doorcase features thin panelled pilasters, a panelled lintel, and an open pediment on fluted consoles with roundels, framing a fan-fluted blind fanlight. The modern door is a 6-panel design, with two glazed panels. There is a cellar window to the left, set in a stucco plinth.
In front of the building, there are stone setts. Although not inspected, it is reported that the cellar contains two earlier ovolo-moulded stopped and chamfered ceiling beams.
