Description
Trevor Church is a 19th-century building aligned northwest to southeast. It is a rectangular structure made of rubble stone, featuring modern clay-tile roofing. At the southwest corner, there is a small late 19th-century lean-to vestry with slate roofing. The northwest gable has an ashlar stone bell-cote topped with a finial and vane. On the southwest side, there are two 2-light traceried windows, while the northeast side has a single 2-light traceried window. The southeast gable wall features a 3-light traceried window, all likely dating from the early 19th century. The west entrance has a round-headed doorway with a studded door and a blank tympanum, along with a blocked lancet window above it.
Inside, the church has a plastered barrel-vault ceiling, with the feet of the roof trusses visible below. There are original box pews near the altar for the Trevor Hall family and the incumbent, with additional box pews added during a refurbishment in 1841. The pulpit was made by Thomas Jones of Ruabon, while the altar and rails are modern, dating from 1960. A two-tier chandelier from 1815, featuring a dove and wrought iron suspension, hangs inside. The church also contains two hatchments and fragments of medieval stained glass, believed to be from Valle Crucis Abbey, incorporated into the windows on the northeast and southwest walls. Additionally, there is a stained glass memorial window from 1930 on the southeast side, depicting the Crucifixion and the emblem of the St Asaph diocese.
