Description

The gatepiers at the former St John's Lodge on the Hawarden Estate date back to the 19th century. They consist of a pair of rusticated stone piers that mark the carriage entrance, featuring a fielded block above a cornice band on the right-hand pier. A modern wooden gate is installed between the piers. Short sections of ashlar walling extend outward to monolithic panelled piers that have moulded courses but no finials. On the outer sides, there are matching monolithic square piers connected to additional short sections of ashlar boundary wall. Plain iron railings are present at the outer pedestrian openings.
