Description
7 Rectory Lane is a late 19th-century terrace of two-storey cottages featuring a shared tiled roof. The cottages have moulded brick stacks, with the ground floor constructed of uncoursed ashlar and the upper floor made of red brick, separated by a simple string course. Cottages 1, 2, and 7 display simple timber-framed gables with plain bargeboards and exposed purlins. The windows are 3 and 4 pane 6-light mullioned and transomed types, with projecting cills. The ground floor windows have segmental relieving arches made of brick. The entrances to cottages 2, 7, and 8 are chamfered, with plain planked doors and rectangular fanlights for cottages 2 and 7. Cottage 8 has a later door and a 2-light window at the first floor level instead of a gable.
Cottage 1 has its entrance on the south side, featuring a large timber-framed gabled first floor that oversails and is supported by braced posts. It has simple bargeboards that are slightly feathered out and 2x12-pane casement windows. The entrance is on the right, sheltered by a tiled canopy on wooden brackets. There are also contemporary 2-light and cross windows with 4 and 6 panes per light.
To the left of the terrace, there is a stone wall and an adjoining ty bach. Additionally, there is a single-storey stone extension at the rear of cottage 7.
