Description
Glyn Arthur is a two-storey house that makes a striking impression when approached. The west elevation is symmetrical and features a prominent verandah that projects on three sides. The main part of the house is roughly square in shape, while a long service wing extends to the east. A service yard is located to the north of the service wing, accessible through a gateway on the left, and there are additional outbuildings.
The house is finished in rough-cast with a low-pitched slate roof that has metal coverings on the ridges and hips, along with four rough-cast chimneys. The verandah, which is slated on the north, west, and south sides, includes decorative slate courses on the north side where it also serves as an open porch. It is supported by timber posts, and the ground beneath is paved in slate. The north (entrance) and west (garden) elevations each feature three windows above the verandah, although the upper right window on the north elevation is blind.
The upper windows of the main block are hornless sash type with 16 panes. Below the verandah roof on the west side, there are two sash windows similar to those above but with additional margin panes. The main entrance door on the north side is semi-glazed and has a simple overlight. On the south side of the house, which faces the terraced garden, there is one window similar to those with margin panes, an upper window to the right, and a two-storey timber sunroom at the centre, featuring a hipped glazed roof and canted corners.
The north wing is double pile, constructed with similar materials and includes two chimneys. It has four units visible from the yard, which include two cartsheds (one of which is walled up but has a window), a lofted stable on the left with external stairs, a modern porch on the right, and two dormer windows. The rear elevation is irregular, featuring two 16-pane sash windows above, one below, a smaller sash window above, and two modern French windows. At the end of this wing is a modern glazed conservatory.
Adjacent to the yard is another range of stables and cartsheds that is positioned at right angles to the previous structure, which includes a circular loft hatch.
