Description

44 Bath Street is a terrace of eight houses built around the time Gothic detailing became popular in new construction in Rhyl. The houses are symmetrically designed and are rendered smooth with painted stone dressings, topped with slate roofs and ridge cresting. The end walls have an asymmetrical two-window layout, featuring an outer doorway and a two-storey canted bay window set beneath a steep, slightly advanced gable. The terrace is designed so the gables are paired, linking the doorways of the central six houses. The doorways are round-arched with stepped moulding, and fluted pilasters support paired central doorways; heavy brackets carry entablature hoods topped with cast iron brattishing. Round-arched windows are positioned above the doors, within stressed architraves and keystones. Angle quoins adorn the gables, which feature two-storey canted bay windows with a heavy cornice over each floor. Round-arched windows are found in the gable apexes (some have been replaced). Windows throughout have marginal glazing bars. The eaves overhang on moulded brackets; bargeboards with finials (some now missing) are present on the oversailing gable roofs.
