Description

This is a terrace of eight houses built around the early 19th century, demonstrating the Gothic detailing that was becoming popular in new construction in Rhyl at that time. The houses are symmetrically designed and have smooth rendered walls with painted stone dressings, topped with slate roofs and ridge cresting. The end walls have an asymmetrical two-window range, featuring an outer doorway and a two-storey canted bay window set beneath a steep, slightly advanced gable. The terrace is arranged so that the gables are paired, aligning the doorways of the central six dwellings.

The doorways are round-arched, with stepped moulding, and fluted pilasters support paired doorways. Heavy brackets hold entablature hoods, which are topped with cast iron brattishing. Round-arched windows are positioned above the doors, set within stressed architraves that have keystones. Angle quoins are present on the gables, which feature two-storey canted bay windows with a heavy cornice over each floor. A round-arched window is found in the gable apex (some have been replaced). All windows have marginal glazing bars. Eaves overhang on moulded brackets and there are bargeboards with finials to the oversailing gable roofs, although some finials are missing.
