Description

The rootclamp at Dolgau is a structure built into the rising ground to the east of the house. It is now surrounded by rubble walling that encloses the garden. The building is constructed from mortared rubble and boulders, with walls that slope inward to create a domed roof. The entrance faces the garden to the west and features a single narrow doorway topped with a large stone lintel. Above the doorway, there is a long slab of stone that may indicate the position of an earlier roofline. At the back of the entrance elevation, the domed roof is covered with grass and tapers down to an exposed rear wall that has flat stone slab coping. The interior was not inspected during the survey.
