Description
The high walled garden of Plas Newydd is a sub-square structure built of rubble masonry, with the inner face lined with brick in a variation of English garden wall bond. It is located adjacent to the apple house on the southeast and the rectangular garden of Plas Newydd to the east. There is a doorway in the center of the south wall, featuring a slightly advanced brick pediment, and another doorway in the center of the west wall with a flat brick-arch head. A wide break in the northwest corner allows for tractor access.
Attached to the outer side of the east wall is a small two-storey square building known as the dovecote. This dovecote is constructed of rubble masonry with red brick facing on the inner side and has a pyramidal roof covered in slates, topped with a finial and copper wind vane. It features a pointed archway on the inner (west) side, with a pointed window above it, set in a slightly advanced pediment. Additionally, a later doorway has been cut into the east side to provide access into the rectangular garden.
