Description

The Easter Carribber farmhouse and steading dates from the late 18th century. The farmhouse is a 2-storey, 3-bay rectangular building, with a single-storey wing to the east, forming the south range of a U-plan steading. The farmhouse is constructed of rubble with droved ashlar dressings, painted on the courtyard elevations.

The south (entrance) elevation of the farmhouse is symmetrical, with a central fanlight over the door, flanked by windows, and regular fenestration above. A single-storey, 2-bay wing is to the right, featuring a piended roof and an abutting modern conservatory. To the left is the gabled return of the west range, which includes an access door to the granary.

The north courtyard elevation of the farmhouse is 3-bay, symmetrical except for a narrow window off-centre on the ground floor. The farmhouse has 8-pane sash and case windows, and a new red pantiled roof with ashlar coped skews, and sandstone stacks to the gables.

The west range has a courtyard elevation featuring a door flanked by arrowslit windows to the centre, with a granary opening above. To the right is a 2-bay cartshed with segmental arches of squared sandstone with keystones; an arrowslit window and door are to the left. The north (road) elevation of the west range is abutted by a lean-to shed, rubble-built and painted, open-sided to the right, with a door to the east gable and a corrugated-iron roof. An open-sided, later implement shed is located to the rear elevation of the west range.

The east range has an asymmetrical courtyard elevation with a door to the farmhouse on the outer right, a window to the left, a door to the far left, a later flat-arched opening on the outer left, and a window above to the right. The north elevation of the east range is gabled. The east (rear) elevation of the farmhouse has 4 bays with irregularly placed windows, modern glazing, and a door on the outer right.
