Description

Anie Farmhouse is a restored farmhouse dated 1737, featuring a symmetrical three-bay, two-storey design. The building has 19th and 20th century rear wings that create an overall square plan. The principal southwest elevation displays a moulded eaves cornice, while the southeast gable has a dated corbel stone. The original house has smooth rendered margins around the window openings. Despite some changes to both the exterior and interior, the farmhouse remains an important example in the local area, possibly containing 18th century fabric, and is situated in a prominent location. Notably, the farm track adjacent to the property was originally part of Major Caulfield's military road constructed between 1850 and 1852, with a small single span bridge still in place.

On the principal elevation, the first-floor windows are smaller than those on the ground floor, suggesting that the ground floor windows may have been enlarged later to allow more light into the main rooms. It is also possible that the original side gables were blank, with the current windows added later. A central bipartite window has also been inserted at a later date. The two rear wings feature various window styles, and a modern porch and lean-to are attached to the 19th century wing.

Access to the interior was not possible during the site visit in 2004, but it was noted that the interior had been recently refurbished.

The farmhouse has harled walls and predominantly features 12-pane timber sash and case windows, which were refurbished with ventilators in 2004. The roof is covered with refurbished grey slate, and there are modern piend roofed dormer windows and slit windows on the cheeks. A centred bipartite rooflight is located on the southwest side.
