Description
The sundial at Leny House is a much weathered obelisk type, featuring a square shaft, a bulged capital, and a tapering finial. It is believed to date from around 1630 and was likely originally located near Leny House. The sundial is situated next to the northwest section of the walled garden and is set in a lawned area that belongs to the nearby late 20th century bungalow known as 'Sundial House'. It has historical ties to Leny House, an early date, and an interesting design.
Each face of the shaft has four discernible moulded compartments. During the site visit in 2004, the capital and obelisk were covered in moss, which made a full inspection impossible.
