Description
Cobleland Bridge, built around 1752 and repaired in 1779, is a rubble bridge featuring two segmentally arched spans. It has splayed battered cutwaters at the central and heavy abutments, which are later additions on the south side. The voussoirs of the arch rings are recessed from the wall plane. The rubble parapet extends into wing walls that sweep out to widen the approach at both ends of the bridge. Cobleland Bridge is a relatively unaltered mid-18th century rural bridge with arch ring detailing that is unusual for the local area.
