Description

Stamford Cottage in Camerorie is an early to mid 19th century single-storey, four-bay rectangular-plan bothy or dwelling, with a later addition. The building is constructed of rubble and painted white. The interior remains largely intact, featuring a box bed, fitted press, and cupboards. The roof includes some early timber with horizontal cabers, and it has heather thatch beneath tin. There is a mid-20th century extension on the north gable end that follows the existing building's plan and profile.

On the east (principal) elevation, there is a two-leaf timber doorway at the center, a small square window to the left, and a timber door to the right, which is part of the later addition. The south (gable) elevation has a small square window set low to the right. The west (rear) elevation features larger windows at the center and left, also part of the later addition. The north elevation has a blind gable facing the road, which is from the later addition.

The smaller timber-framed windows have a fixed four-pane glazing pattern, while the larger windows are timber sash and case with four-pane glazing. There is a rubble end stack on the south gable, and the roof is covered with turf and heather thatch under tin.

Inside, there is a narrow entrance passage running on a north/south axis. The principal room to the south contains a raised box bed on the north wall, panelled timber doors leading to a fitted cupboard on the right, and a fireplace with a timber surround and overmantle on the south wall, along with another cupboard with a single door to the right. The ceiling is timber lined, and some wallpaper is present. A further room is located at the center rear, featuring a fitted recess on the south wall and an internal six-pane timber window leading to the passage. The kitchen and bathroom are located in the later addition adjoining the north gable.
