Description
Bridge O' Ess is an early 19th-century single span, segmental-arched bridge that was widened in 1894 by George Truefitt and Thomas Mawson. It crosses the Water of Tanar and is constructed of granite rubble, featuring a finely finished granite arch-ring. The bridge has splayed wing walls that end in circular terminations topped with half-sphere caps. The rough-faced, coped parapet includes shallow refuges at the angles and decorative ironwork railings. Inside the west parapet, there is a datestone that reads "1894," while the outside of the west parapet has a tooled panel.
