Description

Sir Robert Rowand Anderson, 1905 with later 20th century additions. Single storey with attic, 5-bay, rectangular-plan, gabled Art and Crafts villa. Open gabled, roof balconies with overhanging eaves and exposed rafters. Yellow sandstone ashlar with red sandstone margins, harled to sides and rear. Base course, long and short quoins, blocked architraves to openings.

W (PRINCIPAL) ELEVATION: 2-leaf, timber panelled door to centre, narrow flanking windows, scrolled timber brackets supporting corniced timber canopy, 3-light, timber-mullioned, piended-roofed dormer above. Advanced canted bay to left with roof-height balcony, cast-iron railings, large gabled roof above with projecting eaves and scrolled timber bracket to sides, French window to centre. 3-light, stone-mullioned window to ground floor outer left with small flat-roofed dormer above. Bipartite, stone-mullioned, window to right of centre with piended-rooferd dormer above. Advanced, canted bay to outer right, gable covered balcony above with cast-iron railings terminating in spiral staircase to ground on right.

E (REAR) ELEVATION: canted and piended dormers, irregular fenestration and various later additions.

N (SIDE) ELEVATION: small, bipartite window to gablehead.

S (SIDE) ELEVATION: small, bipartite window to gablehead, modern single storey, gabled, addition.

4-pane upper and plate glass lower and 4-pane, timber, sash and case windows. Grey slates, lead flashing, red ridge tiles. Coped gable end and ridge stacks. Cast-iron rainwater goods.

INTERIORS: largely refurbished, some timber panelling, dadoes and plasterwork retained with fitted window seats to front bay windows.

BOUNDARY WALL: low, coped, rubble wall, cast-iron gate posts and timber gates.
