Description
The Railway Viaduct over Allan Water in Dunblane was built by Lock and Errington between 1846 and 1848. It features four arches and three piers, constructed as a skew railway viaduct. The structure is clad in bull-faced yellow sandstone courses with ashlar margins, covering a brick core. It has V-section cutwaters and a string course at the height of the impost on the piers. The spandrels have blocked soffits and arch rings, and there is a coped brick parapet. The arch on the east bank extends over a road, with the outer abutment set into a steep bank at the level of the impost.
