Description
42 Albert Place is a mid-Victorian, asymmetrical semi-detached building designed in a late classical Italianate style. It is two stories high and constructed from rubble. Each side features a three-story entrance tower; the tower facing Royal Gardens is plain, while the one on Dumbarton Road has small arched windows on the second floor and a modillioned eaves course. Both towers are topped with pyramid roofs and have coupled pilastered doorpieces influenced by Alexander Thomson. The Dumbarton Road side includes one canted bay that extends through both floors, while the Royal Gardens side has two canted bays and one square bay. There is also a single-storey and attic wing on the Dumbarton Road side, and the roofs are piended and slated.
