Description

Drumwhirn, located on Drumbeg Loan in Killearn, is a building from the 1930s with later additions. It features a two-storey, four-bay design with a truncated cruciform plan, showcasing an English vernacular style and a thatched roof with rendered walls. The first-floor windows are integrated into the roof, accompanied by thatched catslide dormers.

On the west elevation, which is the principal facade, there is a tripartite window to the left. An advanced gambrel roof section at the second bay includes a bipartite window on both the ground and first floors. A door is situated in the left return with a window to the right, while another window is located to the left in the right return, alongside a tripartite window to the right. Two bays are set back to the right, featuring a tall window, possibly a glazed door, flanked by glazed sections, and a tripartite window to the right.

The north elevation has an advanced canted bay window at the center. The east elevation includes two tripartite windows to the left, with an advanced section to the center right that has a central tripartite window and flanking windows on the first floor. There is a window in the left return and both a window and a door in the right return, with a section set back at the far left.

On the south elevation, there is another advanced canted bay window at the center. The building features metal windows with 24 panes in the tripartite windows and sloping tiled cills. The thatched catslide dormers are present above the first-floor windows, and there are glazed doors. The roof is a thatched mansard style with a stitched scalloped ridge and stitched sections below the first-floor windows, topped with three coped ridge stacks.

The interior was not seen during the assessment in 2001.
