Description
The Royal Bank of Scotland, located at 77-79 Murray Place in Stirling, was designed by David Rhind from Edinburgh in 1872 for the Commercial Bank. This building features an Italian Renaissance style and is a three-storey astylar banking palazzo. It has five windows facing Murray Place and three windows on Friars Street. The ground floor is tall and plain, with an arched entrance. The first floor has arched windows supported by consoles, each with balustraded aprons. A central balcony on Murray Place has been removed for a fascia band, while the balcony on Friars Street still remains. The building is topped with a balustraded parapet.
