Description
The Corn Exchange in Biggar, designed by architect David McGibbon in a Baronial style, dates from 1860. This two-storey building is constructed of snecked rubble with ashlar dressings and features a slate roof. The central entrance has a door with a four-centred arched head and an ogee hood mould. On the ground floor, there are two depressed pointed arched windows, while the first floor has three windows set beneath a central crowstepped gablet and a coped parapet. The building is topped with coped crowstepped gables. The prominent clock tower includes a pyramidal roof, gableted louvres, and iron cresting.
