Description
137 and 139 High Street in Biggar are probably 18th century buildings with a front that dates from the mid 19th century. They are two storeys tall with an attic, featuring a pebbledashed exterior, cement margins, and a slate roof. The front has three windows, including a tripartite window on the first floor. There are two canted dormers with gablet heads and a slightly projecting shop front at the ground floor, which has a very plain pilastered doorcase. A pend includes a window on the first floor. The west gable end wall, visible in the pend, and the return angle to the rear wing show signs of 18th century work.
