30-34 Cadzow Street, Hamilton

38-40 Cadzow Street in Hamilton is a building dating from around 1840, showcasing a late classical style across three storeys and an attic. The exterior is painted ashlar, with modern shops occupying the ground floor. The upper frontage facing Cadzow Street features 14 windows, while there is a single window on the rounded corner and a three-window frontage on Campbell Street. All windows have architraved openings, with a pediment and recessed aprons on the first floor, and crossettes on the second floor. The building also has an architrave and a main cornice, although the frieze is not present. At number 36, there are two canted dormers, and at number 30, there is an arched entrance with a keyblocked architrave and a panelled door on the left side of the Campbell Street frontage. The roof is slated, featuring corniced ashlar stacks, although some stacks at numbers 26 and 28 have been renewed in brick. The building retains some original glazing and has semi-circular stair turrets at the rear, constructed from rendered rubble.
