Description
The footbridge at Bonnington Linn, built in 1829 by Paterson of Carmichael, is a single-span, segmental-arch structure made of cast iron. It measures approximately 30 feet long and 2.5 feet wide, spanning the Clyde River to connect the east bank with an island that overlooks Bonnington Linn. The bridge features two ribs that are cast in three sections and are morticed and bolted together. The parapet railings are slightly tapered. However, the decking, handrail, and alternate balusters are missing, with these elements having been removed in 1994 and 2007.
