Description
Douglas Castle is a probably 17th-century ruined three-stage round tower, open at the south. It is the original north tower of Douglas Castle, which was burned in 1758, and is now the only surviving fragment. The tower is constructed of snecked stugged ashlar. Each stage features altered large rectangular openings, some of which are blocked. The stages are divided by band courses and capped by a cornice. There is rough masonry where the tower was originally attached to the castle.
