Description
4 Park Terrace is a later 19th century, two-storey terrace consisting of 24 bays arranged as paired three-bay houses. The building is constructed of ashlar stone and features a base course that is vermiculated on the east elevation, a first-floor cill course, a cornice, and a blocking course.
The south (entrance) elevation has arched, keyblocked doorways with architraves at the penultimate bays of the paired houses. It includes eyebrow cornices, two-leaf timber doors, and fanlights. There are two single windows in the center, with four single windows aligned above on the first floor. The outer bays are canted, except for the flat-fronted tripartite bays at Nos 3 and 6.
On the east (side) elevation, there is a two-leaf timber door at the center of the ground floor, topped by a letterbox fanlight. Three single windows are present on the first floor, with the outer right window being blind. The windows throughout are 4-pane timber sash and case, with plate glass in the outer left bay on the first floor of No 3. The roof is covered in grey slate and features rooflights, corniced ridge stacks (some of which have been removed), and a wallhead stack at No 8A, along with polygonal cans.
The interiors were not seen in 1998.
The property is also defined by its boundary walls, gatepiers, gates, and railings. There are low coped boundary walls at the entrance elevation and high coped walls at the rear. Cast-iron gatepiers and gates serve Nos 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, and 7, while Nos 6 has later stone gatepiers and an iron gate. Modern railings are present at No 7, and there are later gates, gatepiers, and a boundary wall at No 8. Original railings remain at Nos 1, 5, and to the left of No 2.
