Methodist Church And Halls, Dalrymple Street, Girvan

The Methodist Church and Halls on Dalrymple Street in Girvan, built in 1902 in the Arts and Crafts style, is designed in the manner of W G Rowan. The building features snecked and stugged red sandstone and consists of a four-bay nave with a south aisle beneath a swept roof. A large gothic window with perpendicular tracery is located in the west gable, and there is a porch in the west bay of the aisle with an open timber-framed gable end. The aisle has small tripartite windows.

Inside, the detailing is simple, but the boldly braced timber roof stands out. To the east, there is a wide two-storeyed gabled bay that includes a square-headed door and a pair of four-centred lights to the right, along with one three-light and one two-light window above. The building has two stacks, with the one to the south-west being heavily battered. Beyond the church, there is a lower projecting two-bay hall, and the entire structure is topped with slate roofs.
