Description

Reawick Congregational Church, dated 1863, is a symmetrical hall church with a layout that features a hall oriented east-west. It has a gabled entrance porch and a vestry to the east, along with a pulpit recess to the west, forming a cruciform plan. The church is constructed with harled rubble walls.

The east elevation is symmetrical, featuring a two-bay gabled entrance porch and vestry that are advanced at the center. There are lancet windows in each bay, with a date stone positioned between them. At the apex, there is a gabled bellcote on a rectangular plinth. The corners are supported by angle buttresses, and pointed-arched doors are located in the side elevations, although the north door has been infilled. The hall's elevation appears blank on both the right and left sides.

The north and south elevations are symmetrical, each having two bays with lancet windows and a triangular vent in the gablehead.

The west elevation is also symmetrical, with a two-bay gable advanced at the center. It features pointed-arched windows with chamfered arrises in each bay and a triangular vent centered in the gablehead. The hall's elevation appears blank on both the left and right sides.

The church includes 11-pane fixed-lights in the lancets and border-glazed windows with colored glass on the west side. The roof is covered with grey slate and has harled skew copes.

Inside, there are timber pews made with wide horizontal boards, featuring vertically-boarded high backs and panelled ends, with one pew centered at the rear. The pulpit is panelled and raised on a platform to the west. An organ, built in 1906 by W Doherty & Co of Canada, is centered to the east, and there is a panelled enclosure with a cast-iron and timber balustrade.
