The Steamer is an early 19th-century semi-detached house located in Easter Skeld. It is a single storey and attic structure with a symmetrical design and a rectangular plan, featuring lime-harled walls.
The principal elevation faces east and includes vertically-boarded timber doors with plate glass fanlights in the outer bays. There is a 12-pane timber sash and case window in the bay to the left of centre, and a plate glass timber sash and case window in the bay to the right.
The south elevation is blank, while the north elevation has a window at ground level to the left.
The roof is made of grey slate, with a piended and bellcast design, and features cast-iron gutters. At the centre of the ridge, there is a large 4-flue stack that is harled and coped, topped with circular cans.
