Description
Built 1768 with alterations of 1790 and 1821. Manse laid out in symmetrical T-plan comprised of principal 2-storey 3-bay range oriented E-W with 2-storey wing projecting N from centre, and single storey, single bay wings projecting from E and W gables; principal entrance door in NE re-entrant angle. Harled walls.
S ELEVATION: near-symmetrical, blank at ground in centre bay, stair window off-set to left at 1st floor; regular fenestration at ground and 1st floors in flanking bays; window and vertically-boarded timber door to E wing.
E (ENTRANCE) ELEVATION: gables of principal range and E wing to left, 2-bay elevation of N wing recessed at right; vertically-boarded timber door with rectangular multi-pane timber fanlight above at ground in bay to left; regular fenestration in bay to right and at 1st floor.
N ELEVATION: near-symmetrical, N gable of N wing advance at centre, windows centred at ground, 1st floor and in gablehead. N elevation of principal range flanking, modern window at ground to left, narrow windows flanking in re-entrant angles at 1st floor. Single window to wing at left.
W ELEVATION: mirrored image of E elevation at right; W elevation of N wing (recessed at left) irregularly fenestrated with shouldered 3-flue wallhead stack at centre.
4 and 12-pane timber sash and case windows, border-glazed stair window. Grey slate roof with skew copes. Harled apex stacks to principal and wing gables, all coped with circular cans.
GARDEN AND BOUNDARY WALLS: random rubble wall enclosing rectangular garden centred on S elevation; N wall (adjacent to house) with 2 openings flanking centre, and extending on to W and curving N to entrance gate; gateway in E wall to N of outbuildings.
OUTBUILDINGS: L-plan arrangement of gabled random rubble with mono- pitch store between at angle. Rear (W) elevation of W building a continuation of garden wall; single vertically-boarded timber door centred in E elevation. 3-bay N elevation of E building with vertically-boarded timber doors to centre and right bays, 2-leaf vertically-boarded timber door in right bay; 2-bay E gable with infilled windows. Purple-grey slate roofs with stugged sandstone ashlar skew copes.
