Description
Deepsykehead is a mid-18th century farmhouse with early 19th century additions and alterations. It features a linear range of farm buildings that includes a two-storey, four-bay farmhouse, a single-storey, open L-plan range to the left, and offices linked to the right, with a former cart shed and byre at the far right, which step down in height.
The farmhouse is constructed of rubble with ashlar skews and has an irregular arrangement of windows on the first floor, which are set close to the eaves. At the rear, there is a lean-to addition with a pair of round-arched casement windows on the ground floor. The windows are predominantly 12-pane timber sash and case, and the roof is covered with grey slate. The building features coped skews and coped end stacks with clay cans.
To the right of the farmhouse are the stable offices, which have a gabled roof and a central timber door, with a loft opening that breaks the eaves above. These offices also have ashlar skews. The former cart shed is located to the right, followed by the former byre at the far right, both of which have corrugated iron roofs.
Inside the farmhouse, there are timber shutters and some timber wall panelling, along with timber roof beams. The stable offices are split level and include a timber stair and timber trough.
Opposite the farmhouse is a small, irregularly shaped walled garden enclosed by a low rubble wall, featuring stone flagged pathways.
