Bothy, Walled Garden, Caldra House

The Walled Garden at Caldra House is likely from the early 19th century, with some later alterations. It features an irregularly shaped plan and is situated on a sloping site to the southwest of Caldra House, covering approximately 30,000 square meters. The garden is enclosed by buttressed and coped red brick walls on the northeast and northwest sides. Some intersecting paths are visible and have been partially reinstated.

Adjoining the northwest wall is a single-storey bothy with an attic, which is a two-bay structure made of harl-pointed rubble, partly consisting of whinstone, with sandstone rubble dressings. The entrance elevation on the southwest side includes a timber door in the right bay, an overhanging timber bracketed canopy, and a bipartite window in the left bay at ground level, with a gabled window above that breaks the eaves. The northeast (rear) elevation features a small arched window in the left bay. The bothy has 3- and 4-pane timber glazing and skylights on both the front and rear. It is topped with a grey slate roof that has raised skews and a red brick apex stack. The interior was not seen in 1998.
