Description
The Jubilee Fountain in Market Place, Jedburgh, was created by Bell of Glasgow in 1889. It features a red sandstone square shaft with late Medieval style, supported by clustered columns that have carved cushion capitals. At the top, a rampant unicorn holds a shield with the town crest, standing on an octagonal pier adorned with moulded crenellations. The base includes alternating bronze plaques and profile busts of Queen Victoria, all set within ogee arches. The pedestal is made of polished pink granite and features a four-cornered pool with cups on quarter engaged stump columns at each corner, connected by concave links. There is a similar square plinth with chamfered corners, and ornate wrought iron fire-baskets and brackets are positioned below the capital of the shaft.
