4-5 County Place, Paisley

1 County Place in Paisley is a three-storey terrace building dating from around 1830. It features five bays facing Gilmour Street and a four-bay quadrant corner that extends to a total of 17 bays, which are irregularly stepped down to County Place. There is also a one-bay quadrant corner and five bays along Moss Street. The building is constructed of ashlar stone.

The ground floor has been altered for modern shops, except at the corner of County Place and Gilmour Street, where there are 12-pane sash windows and a pilastered doorpiece with a cornice that connects to a continuous swept cornice on the ground floor. The first-floor windows are corniced and have lugged architraves with broken cill courses. The second-floor windows also feature lugged architraves and a swept cill course. The windows at the corner of County Place and Moss Street have ramped architraves.

On the left side of County Place, there are bipartite windows on each floor. The building has a continuous swept eaves cornice with steps, a blocking course above, and two wallhead stacks located at the corners of Gilmour Street and County Place, as well as on the Moss Street elevation. The roofs are slate with corniced stacks, some of which are rendered.
